I must be the luckiest, most blessed guy out there today. Yesterday I started work at the prestigious University of Illinois. And of all things, I work in the Illini Union! What does it have... a food court, a coffee shop with a stage where they did improv comedy last night, a hotel (at which I work), lots of various offices, ornate wood work, beautiful parlors/ study areas, a convenience store, arcade and bowling alley! It feels like a little town.
I work 3 pm to 11:30 pm and pretty much am the warden over the whole building after about 9 pm. Not really, but it feels that way.
I work in the welcome desk right inside the front door to the Illini Union. The whole building reeks to me of great memories of two Urbana missions conferences that I attended there, oh so long ago, representing Wycliffe Bible Translators and Caleb Project.
I have worked one day so far, and I like it. The people are great. I'm learning the tasks, and getting to know the people and procedures, but just wanted to let you know my update.
Have a blessed day,
Greg Purnell
